As the Dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and the Chief of Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, my daily activities are focused on patients – whether I’m training the next generation of providers or talking to parents about an upcoming surgery. Ultimately, patients are at the heart of everything I do.
ACPA has this same focus. ACPA supports the care of individuals affected by cleft and craniofacial conditions by providing resources and education to patients and professionals. Through these resources, ACPA has helped me – and my patients – on our cleft and craniofacial journeys.
I invite you to join me in supporting ACPA during this season of giving. By making a gift to ACPA’s Fall Campaign, you will join me in making a difference in the lives of patients like Landyn and his family.
“Landyn is 7 years old and was born with a complete unilateral cleft lip and cleft of the hard and soft palate. He has had 8 surgeries and counting. Landyn is brave and resilient and is a tremendous advocate for children with cleft. He is always educating his peers about his cleft and surgeries. We are beyond proud,” said Kelly, Landyn’s mother. “The ACPA Family Services website was the first website that we ventured to during my pregnancy when we found out that our child would be born with a cleft. We found numerous resources that helped us.”
I hope you will join me this November by donating to support ACPA programs that impact the cleft and craniofacial community. Here are a couple of ways you can participate:
- Make a gift to ACPA by visiting acpa-cpf.org/donate.
- Post a photo on Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram including the statement “I support ACPA because…” with the hashtag, #CreateAWorld. Then challenge three friends to donate to ACPA and share a similar post on social media.
- Participate in #GivingTuesday on December 3, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
- Shop Amazon Smile and select ACPA as your organization of choice during the entire giving season, including #BlackFriday and #CyberMonday specials.
When you give to ACPA, you support our mission to create a world where people with cleft and craniofacial conditions thrive. If you would like to make a gift to ACPA, visit www.acpa-cpf.org/donate. To learn more, call (919) 933-9044. Thank you for your support.
