Abstract Process for ACPA’s 2020 Meeting

Alyssa KirkmanACPA's Annual Meeting

The Program Task Force for ACPA’s 77th Annual Meeting has finalized the meeting program.  The task force, chaired by ACPA Vice President-Elect John A. Girotto, MD, MMA, FAAP, FACS, reviewed 623 abstracts when creating the program.  Submissions included 176 platform papers and more than 100 Junior Investigator papers.  Abstracts were submitted in more than 19 subject areas.

Abstracts were submitted from all over the world, including 25 submissions from Japan, ACPA’s first ever guest nation.

The task force worked with invited reviewers to create a quality program that will be valuable for the meeting’s multidisciplinary audience.  Reviewers assessed the blinded abstracts based on the appropriateness of the topic for ACPA’s Annual Meeting and organization of the information. Reviewers also assessed whether or not the abstract introduces new information.

After the reviews were completed, the Program Task Force met to create the program.  The group works  to include clinical and research topics, all subject areas and international submissions, while avoiding duplication.  The group recommended changes to abstract types as appropriate, considering the topic, quality of material and available space.

Abstract notifications for ACPA’s 77th Annual Meeting will be sent in November 2019.
