July’s National Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness Month is just around the corner. This exciting time of the year is an excellent opportunity for our community to come together as we further ACPA’s mission to create a world where people with cleft and craniofacial conditions thrive. Participating in awareness month also supports our strategic goal to foster communications with families. We do this by getting involved in our local communities and encouraging each person to make a difference in their own way.
This year, ACPA will celebrate awareness month by sharing patient and family stories, reaching out to our local government and bringing patient-facing organizations together. I’d like to encourage all of you to consider ways you can participate this July–we need your help to reach an even bigger audience.
Many ACPA Approved Teams have already taken the initiative to spread awareness in their local communities. The Texas Cleft-Craniofacial Team is hosting a WonderKids Workshop for their patients as a chance for them to experience a day on the team’s campus. Other teams are creating customized shirts, hosting picnics, sharing posts on social media, requesting proclamations from their local government and finding unique and creative ways to reach their community.
How will you spread awareness during July? We hope you will share your awareness activities and stories with us. Visit the ACPA Family Services website or email ACPA information about your event and your photos, and we’ll spread the word.
