I recently returned from attending the American Association of Orthodontists Meeting in Washington, DC. ACPA has traditionally attended two meetings a year, the American Society of Plastic Surgeon’s Plastic Surgery: The Meeting and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon’s Annual Meeting. With input from the ACPA Board of Directors and an aim to build a rich interdisciplinary community for our members, ACPA is now rotating attendance at other meetings by attending meetings of two disciplines each year. For the second meeting in 2018, ACPA will attend the ASHA Convention in Boston in November.

By alternating attendance at meetings, we hope to learn more about ACPA members, share information with prospective members and raise awareness for those who may not know about ACPA. Additionally, this is a rich opportunity to observe how other organizations run their meetings and garner ideas for ACPA’s Annual Meeting. We will let you know if we are attending a meeting in your specialty – watch your inbox for an invitation to stop by the ACPA booth.

ACPA represents members from more than 30 specialties, which makes us unique. While our five largest cohorts are Plastic Surgery, Speech-Language Pathology, Orthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Otolaryngology, we continue to strive to deliver value that supports all disciplines and reinforces ACPA’s commitment to multidisciplinary team care. If you have a suggestion for a meeting you think we should attend, let us know.
