ACPA and the International Outreach Committee are pleased to introduce Dr. Jorge Oviedo as the 2016 Visiting Scholar. Dr. Oviedo is a maxillofacial surgeon in Santo Domingo, Heredia in Costa Rica and works at the Cleft Palate – Maxillofacial Care Service of the Children’s National Hospital. Children’s National Hospital is an institution that treats all patients with cleft lip/palate and other craniofacial anomalies in Costa Rica. Dr. Oviedo is also a professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the School of Dentistry at the Universidad de Costa Rica.
Dr. Oviedo’s sponsor is Jeffrey J. Moses, DDS of Pacific Clinical Research Foundation dba Smiles International Foundation. During Dr. Oveido’s time in the US, he will visit with three teams including Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, FL, the University of Oklahoma J.W. Keys Cleft and Craniofacial Clinic and the University of Tulsa Mary K. Chapman Cleft and Craniofacial Clinic and Oklahoma, and the University of Michigan Cleft and Craniofacial Program in Ann Arbor, MI.
Dr. Oviedo will attend ACPA’s 73rd Annual Meeting in Atlanta, GA and will present information about his experiences, education and training.
