Dash for Smiles is a local non-profit organization in Denver, Colorado. The organization was created in 2010 by three mothers of children with oral clefts. It was their desire to support other families struggling with the isolation and financial strain that often comes with having a child with a cleft.
In 2011 their dream came to fruition when they hosted the first annual Dash for Smiles 5K walk/run. The event raised $6,000, which was donated to the cleft clinics at The Children’s Hospital Colorado and Rose Medical Center.
The event has been held for six years and has raised over $62,000! This money has been used by the cleft clinics to supply specialized bottles to newborns in addition to helping families from around the region with transportation and related costs to ensure their child receives the necessary care through the cleft clinic in Denver.
Dash for Smiles has raised awareness about cleft lip and palate in a fun and engaging way, while connecting families and children with oral clefts. Their next event will be on July 30, 2017 at Stapleton Central Park in Denver. For additional information please visit dashforsmiles.org or follow Dash for Smiles on Facebook, Twitter, & Instagram.
