The American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA) and the Cleft Palate Foundation are pleased to announce the 2017 winners of The Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal awards. The winners were recognized on March 17, 2017 during ACPA’s 74th Annual Meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA) is now accepting abstracts for ACPA’s 75th Annual Meeting, April 10-14, 2018 in Pittsburgh, PA. All ACPA members and interested nonmembers are invited to submit abstracts on new research, developing information or instructional courses on cleft lip/palate and craniofacial anomalies.
ACPA is participating in several events for Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness Month in July. All local members, professionals, families and friends are invited to participate as we celebrate throughout the month.
On May 7, 2017, as a result of extensive analysis of alternatives, organizational assessment and due diligence, the leaders of ACPA and CPF voted to merge in order to achieve a shared vision of better serving patients and families.
In May I attended the UNC Graduation of my great-nieces – among the more than 6,000 people who graduated at UNC that day.
Two minutes of your time can mean a great deal to others. A donation was given by a daughter who said, “My dad had a cleft palate when he was born. He was lucky enough to have surgeries that helped him live a great life; I know the work you do is important, and I’m hoping it comes to be helpful for those in need.”
3D medical imaging pioneer Canfield Scientific will team with international medical charity Operation Smile this summer to support their efforts in providing free surgical care for children suffering from cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial differences. Canfield has agreed to provide 3D clinical imaging training for Operation Smile personnel as they establish a dedicated center in Nicaragua.
ACPA Member Lisa Jacob, DDS, MS, has worked with the American Academy of Pediatrics to publish a clinical report, The Primary Care Pediatrician and the Care of Children with Cleft Lip and/or Cleft Palate.
