This year’s symposium, April 10, 2018 at the Westin Convention Center in Pittsburgh, will focus on critical aspects of multidisciplinary care delivery, specifically as it relates to cleft/craniofacial team clinic operational models and efficiency of care delivery. In addition, innovative approaches for providing team care in an ever-changing healthcare environment will be presented.
The subject matter will begin with a keynote presentation that will incorporate the evolving healthcare landscape and what impact it may have on essential aspects of coordinated care of multiple disciplines. The symposium will also include presentations on operational aspects of team care including discussion of different models of clinic organization, team structure, and workflow. We will also discuss the integration of registries and the electronic health records to improve efficiency and to support clinical research. We will discuss the value of team care and explore strategies to enhance the cleft team profile within the larger institution. Additionally, we will discuss the economics of team care, and invite discussion of unique or innovative strategies that may be in development nationally.
The overarching theme is to provide a framework for discussion of team care from the perspective of the patients and families. In that spirit, the closing session will include a discussion of community outreach and ideas that incorporate social media to build an extra-clinical support structure for patients and families, with a final panel that features a patient and family who will share their experience and perspective.
Attendees of this symposium will:
- Have an opportunity to participate in a larger discussion of extra-clinical issues that impact the delivery of multidisciplinary care
- Have an understanding of different clinic models and what advantages and disadvantages may exist related to the nature of those models
- Gain new ideas on efficiency in cleft team operations
- Learn innovative programs designed to enhance the patient experience both in and out of the clinic
A separate registration is required.
